When you work in customer service, your reputation can make or break your career. You depend on your clients to spread the word about your services, and if the word is bad, you won't see any new business coming your way. So if your career goal is to sell commercial real estate in Toronto, you should start thinking now of ways to make a good impression on clients so that they tell their friends good things and create a positive reputation for you. Here are some things to think about.

Attitude

Your attitude is what will make the strongest impression on your clients. It doesn't matter if you got your clients a fabulous deal on a home for sale in Plano, TX, if you were rude, impatient, scornful, or dismissive, that's the only thing they'll remember. Therefore when dealing with clients, always be on your best behavior. Smile. Care about their concerns. Be patient with their inexperience. And always be polite. It doesn't matter if you've had a bad day or you're in the middle of a divorce. That's not the client's fault.

Availability

Everyone wants to hire an agent who has handled lots and lots of London homes for sale, but no one wants an agent who acts that busy. They want to be able to get through to you when they call, have their messages promptly returned, and have several home tours a week. You need to be able to do that for them, or they're going to feel neglected. Even if the commission from their deal is piddling compared to the others, you still need to be able to devote your full attention to them without seeming hurried and aloof.

Flexibility

People change their minds all the time. As a Toronto real estate agent, you'll need to be prepared for that. You can't dwell on all the wasted time and energy if you spent three weeks combing the condo listings for perfect properties only to have them decide they'd rather have a townhouse. Just roll with the punches. You should also be willing to accommodate clients who need to move meetings or reschedule viewings, within reason. After all, without their business, you get no money.

Dedication

Clients want to know that you're going to do your very best to move their house for sale in Oshawa. They want to see that you're working hard on their behalf, which means giving them regular updates and allotting time to work on that deal every day. Don't let weeks go by without contacting the client or making some progress. The client will think you're not really trying and they'll make sure all their friends know their business wasn't important enough for you to put in the effort.
